Installing Lilo

Hi there,

I have Slackware 10.1, kernel 2.4.29 and i want to install kernell 2.6.24
The problem arrives when I type "make install" I get :
#/etc/lilo.conf: No such file or directory
I tryed creating an empty file /etc/lilo.conf but stiil gave me an error
And i dit configure it before "make xconfig"
I usually boot linux using my cd :
bare.i root=/dev/hda1 noinitrd ro

I did not install Lilo at Linux install time
does anyone know a way to make it work ?

Thanks in advance.

Try running liloconfig as root. It will help you set lilo up. If you did not install the lilo package you can get it from one of the slackware mirrors (or ftp.slackware.com itself).

The easiest way is to grab the binary .tgz of lilo from the Slackware installation disk and install it using installpkg.

To find packages, look in the slackware directory on your installation disk and find a file called packages.txt. If you look in packages.txt you should find the line describing the package for lilo which will tell you the path on the disk. cd to that directory and do (as root)

installpkg pkgname

Hope I haven't forgotten anything or made a mistake. My CD drive has gone off once again and I can't put in the disk to check my suggestions.
