Installing KDE themes :-[

I downloaded the cursor theme from http://www.phoenity.com and, went to the mouse cursor set installer. I pressed browse, went to the archive, and everything worked great.

Next chapter, I downloaded this theme, and I tried the same thing I tried with the cursors. Except the theme installer will only function with "theme files". So I tried installing it as an icon theme, which worked the same way as a mouse theme. It didn't work. It didn't work as a style theme or anything either. I extracted the files from the archive. There is a bunch of icons there, and a gtkrc file, in the two gtk folders they have. I have no idea what to do.

Next chapter, same as above, except I used smart package manager to get a whole bunch of themes. They didn't show up in the theme manager as I hoped they were. Instead I get tons of folders in usr/share/themes that have icons and gtkrc files in them. So what do I do? How do I get these themes to work? And please say I don't have to mess around in terminal too much.

Distribution: PClinuxOS 2005
Theme manager: The defult for KDE
Package manager: Smart package OS (w00t)

Gtk stuff usually means Gnome stuff, thus I don't think this is supposed to work with KDE.

I haven't installed any gtk theme for a long time but,
in the theme page you have posted, there is a discussion in the "Comments" about how to install gtk themes. Read it.

Also, look at the here: http://www.muhri.net/nav.php3?node=gts for a gtk theme switching tool.

I looked at the similar threads (how come those didn't show up when I said "check similar theads" when making the topic). They actually didn't help me.

Also perfect_circle, I tried the method in the comments of that site, and it didn't work at all.

Many other help things just tell me to refer to KDE look. And KDE look has been down for ages.

http://www.kde-look.org/ works just fine now.
Anyway those are gtk themes and will only change the appearance of the xmms menu and other stuff like that (gtk), but they are not going to change whole KDE appearance.

As far as I remember you just create the file .gtkrc in your home directory wich has a line like this:

include "/usr/share/themes/Blue-n-Gray/gtk/gtkrc"

You may also use the switch utility. I 've already posted you the link.

So once you rename it, your look changes instantly? I'm guessing not.
Ima restart my computer now.
