Question Installing KDE on Linux Redhat 8.0

Im lost and in a pit of darkness....

I installed Redhat 8 on a server, had proplems with detection of graphics mcard and so only installed the command line interface. Now I would like to install KDE but I sit with a problem and that is HOW do you do that.

If I insert the first cd of Redhat 8 nothing happens and it just shoot through to the kernal and load the command line. The bios settings are right for boot up and is set to detect the CD Rom.

What sould I do

Thank you in advance

CB

Ideally, the first CD, should guide U thru' the "Upgrade" process and U should be able to select additional components...

However, if that is not working then try
$>redhat-config-packages

Select KDE and it will prompt U to insert the CD.

Let us know if that works..

A better way is to follow the link in my signature and get apt-get. It makes installing just about anything easier. KDE install or upgrade can be done very easily with apt..

I will try that which you sugested and see wha it does, look I know next to nothing about Linux but I saw the power there of. Just something that I would like to confirm, if I install KDE will the server still maintain the settings that has been set up, and will KDE recognise them/

Thank you
Chris
