Installing Java in Suse 11.1, Gnome desktop

I have downloaded java to my desktop and feeling helpless cause I can't install it. Can someone tell me how to install it from the desktop using a terminal, or a wizzard if there is one, logged in as root. Thanks in advance.

@j_jerry
Distro is in the title

Now to answer the question it is best not to try to download from Sun directly unless you have a very good reason too. Instead open the Suse package management system in the system settings (Yast) and search for "jre" (if you only want to run programms) or "jdk" (if you want to do programming or previous does not work). There should be several different versions from which you can choose, best is to pick Java 6 from Sun. Otherwise Openjdk will work also.
