the message states that you need libcurl, not curl itself.

I am having a similiar issue. I can't seem to find out how to install "libcurl.la".
Is this a curl file or maybe a glibc file? I can't find it.

Thanks,

libcurl.la is a library file used by curl. this should generally be placed in /usr/lib.

hope this helps.

This is the version of curl that is installed on my system. I checked and it is just about the latest. I have scoured my hard drive and there is no "libcurl.la"

I have a "libcurl.a" Maybe I need the source files??

[root@ztuab883788 /]# curl -V
curl 7.11.1 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.11.1 OpenSSL/0.9.7a ipv6 zlib/1.2.1.1
Protocols: ftp gopher telnet dict ldap http file https ftps
Features: IPv6 SSL libz NTLM Largefile
[root@ztuab883788 /]#

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

after installing lib files you
sometimes have to run the "ldconfig" command
it tells Linux where to find the libs
