Installing Gnome 2.6 on Fedora core 1

Hi I am a newbie I just installed Fedora Core 1,and wanted to update to newest gnome & kde.
I was told you could do this with apt so I type yum install apt and then it finds all theese dependencies that are not avalible.

Can anyone help me plese ?

Errr... there's apt for rpm available for RH and Fedora distros?

I'm actually looking for Yum or apt repos, but I haven't been able to find any.
