Installing Gentoo - Setting up my internet connection

Yeah... Well lets start out with this little emoticon on the left which describes me in my entirety :newbie:
Alright so this is my first post here, and go figure, is asking for advice... I've seen quite a few places reccomending I install Gentoo. So I downloaded the Universal ISO and burned it, and booted it up to start. I wanted to do a network installation, but theres a problem: My eth0 isn't working... I've tried to follow what the handbook says, but for some reason it doesn't want to work... I use a DHCP server, but I also tried manually putting in all of my IP info, as well...
The driver it wants me to use: mii.o
My nic: Cnet PRO200WL PCI fast
When I tell it to use DHCP: Any time I put in a domain name, it tells me host not found... And when I put in an IP, it's something like host unreachable
When I manually input my info(using net-setup eth0): When I put in a domain name, it times out... When I put in an IP, it can't reach the host(With ping - I tried pinging the gateway)
Right now I'm posting on Windows XP and I have Mandrake 10 installed(Mandrake connects to the internet fine)... So if theres any other information you need, I can try and get it... I know my DHCP's IP address, but I don't know how to put that in manually, or if it would help

Erm, well I can't really be of much help because I managed to screw up my gentoo install, and after about a week of trying to sort it, said bollocks and re-installed the mandrake 10 official that I'm running now.

All I can suggest is that you have a good dig around this site. You ain't gonna get much better for a gentoo resource!

maybe that help's a little?

regards

John

Indeed... I feel kind of foolish not going there, first -_-
EDIT: Problem solved: Upgraded CD to 2004.2
