installing FROM usb drive

so i built a new computer from scratch, without an optical drive. i'd like to install ubuntu server onto it by writing the contents of the install CD's ISO onto a flash drive, and then trying to boot/install of it (by selecting the system to boot from flash in the BIOS). Will this work or would I need to do something else?

USB Tutorials would be a good place to start.
