Installing Fluxbox on Ubuntu

I am installing fluxbox on ubuntu. I am using this guide. I download the file, extract, and then ./configure. Or execute the configure file.

At the end, this shows up:
Code:
configure: error: Fluxbox requires the X Window System libraries and headers.
I ignore it, and try to go on, but this pops up when I do make:
Code:
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
Thanks for reading.

If you don't have a partcular reason for installing from source follow guide here (you may need to add extra repositories so see that section too) http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper#H...nstall_FluxBox . If you have edgy just replace Dapper with Edgy in the above link although most things are the same in the guides.

I have used fluxbox in slackware before, and customized it, but in the .fluxbox file, there are no files! I even tried ls -a to show all of them.

The guide you are using is very out dated. go to the fluxbox website if you would like the latest version(tabs are back), or like beagle said, just use the repository. I believe that the edgy repository has the latest version. Also, the new version will have the file you are talking about

I just did the respostory thing, and installed fluxbox, but still not file.

By the way, on the fluxbox site, I get the same erorr. I am using this guide.

I just want to find out the answer to the original erorr.

Edit:
I got ./configure and make to work. Now in make install:
Code:

I just posted the whole thing.

Edit: Re read erorr, sudo make install worked.

Damn! you were going to be my first SU -password make install error answer! seriously, Your doing just fine. When you are ready, you can make your own style by going to /usr/share/fluxbox/fluxboxstyles, opening as root any style that seems kinda close to what you are looking for, and changing things just for fun. I use the kde app "colorchooser", and open it right next to the file to easily see what I want. Then just "save as" whatever file you modified, and restart flux. enjoy.
