in the corrent location
the 32 bit flash on a 64 bit OS using the 32 bit firefox libflash goes in the 32 bit folder /usr/lib/plugins ( or mozilla-plugins) that uses the 32 bit wrapper to run the 32 bit ff on a 64 bit OS so is this a 32 bit OR 64 bit install of Firefox ? the ff 14 on the mozilla web site IS 32 BIT the 64 bit flash will not work on a 32 bit FF for the 32 bit FF ON a 64 bit OS put the 32 bit flash in the 32 bit /usr/lib/??? plugin folder however if this is NOT the ff that came with BT5 .If is is a manually installed ff14 you might need to add a "plugin" folder to the ff14 install folder this is a 100% by hand install it is NOT going to be easy but why are you not using the bt repos and " apt-get" |
I'm actually surprised it's this hard. My Firefox and Flash install consists of the Nightly build slapped into /opt and libflashplayer.so in ~./mozilla/plugins.
I do suspect a mismatch of 32 and 64 bit versions or similar. |
FF is 64 bit. It is the firefox that came with BT. When I used apt-get it came up 404 not found.

i simplifide mine down
BUT i am using the 64 bit build of ff14 on a 64 bit OS using the 64 bit flash the "fun" starts with a 64 bit os and a 32 bit ff and a 32 bit plugin or a 64 bit os a 64 bit ff and a 32 bit plugin but i am using the 64 bit FF from the ftp page http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozi...leases/latest/ there is a wrapper for the 32 bit plugins on a 64 bit os mixing the 64 and 32 bit causes things to get very complex very fast |
Ok. I have the 64 bit OS, 64 bit plugin, and i'm pretty sure it's the 64 bit ff. Should I still install this new ff?

When you say that some videos work, are you sure they are Flash videos? If so then yes it may be you need a newer version. That said, Flash should just work or not for most sites or come up with a message telling you to upgrade. |
Perhaps they weren't flash. I still got the messages telling me to upgrade. I guess the videos that worked were not flash.

Easier to update to the newest then go from there. |
John, to be clear, if I have the 64 bit OS, 64 bit flash, and 64 bit firefox, then the /usr folder (from the tarball) is put in / and the libflashplayer.so is put where?
|
in the lib64/plugins folder
but you will need to remove any link to the 32 bit and the alternatives and the npwrapper.so for using the 32 bit version on a 64 bit firefox and OS |
Solved. Finally and for sure this time. I needed to install the new firefox (64bit) from the ftp and it worked immediately. Thank you John for your help and patience.
