Installing Firefox into usr/local

Just trying to install firefox into the usr/local location but it always cums up with

error 624 cant make destination directory. please try another directory

and i dont really want it sitting in my Home folder... so any help on that?

usr is a sub-directory of root (/) so the correct format is /usr/local

yea ok, went to that location tried to open up a new folder and said ¨access denied¨ and still get the same message when trying to install it in there

You need to be root to do this so if you are using the console do su at the prompt and you'll ne asked for your root password and then do the install.

yea i wasn´t too sure how to be in root, but u´ve cleared alot of things up thankyou
