installing firefox 2.0
 

Okay I got my SUSE 10.1 installed however just Konqueror loads up for the internet firefox just sits their and cannot load into the internet . I have downloaded Firefox 2.0 extracted it into my folder there is a bin file there I want to install this . Looking for help on this

Something I learned in Windoze and might be the problem here too:
Have you tried file, import to import the right settings? In Windows I have to tell firefox to import settings etc from IE to work,maybe here you need to import from Konquerer?

There are 2 ways to run a bin file. For eg., if you got abc.bin,
1) #sh abc.bin
2 )#./abc.bin

For SuSE 10.1


1. download these files:

ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/op...-64.1.i586.rpm
ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/op...4-3.1.i586.rpm
ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/op...4-3.1.i586.rpm

2. open your home directory and navigate to where you downloaded the rpm files

3. right-click mozilla-nspr and open it using KPackage if you're using KDE, or the default gnome package software (don't know its name), and install the rpm file.

4. then do the same for mozilla-nss, and only then to MozillaFirefox.

Now you have Firefox 2 installed.
If you're using KDE, it will be in the K-Menu, under Internet > Web Browsers > Firefox.

Just to elaborate... the other 2 rpms are files that Firefox depends on them to be installed first... This is a Dependency.
Try using a program called SMART to manage your rpm files, I really like it.
