installing/finding DRIVERS for laptop modem/soundcard

im using MEPIS linux on my laptop, and i need to do what the title of this thread suggests.

im not a complete linux newbie, but still not too good at remembering console commands. so yeah, if someone could guide me through getting those 2 bits of hardware sorted i would be grateful.

im not sure what model the hardware is, but the laptop is a toshiba satellite 3000 X4.it uses kde.

cheers and just ask me to paste any console output you need to know to help me:)

Goto to http://linmodems.org/ and see if your modem is listed, you may also try searching google for "PCMCIA modem" + Linux

Anyways, let me tell 99% your modem is not going to work on Linux, reason you can find on Linmodems.org.

Btw. in case you are desperate for running the modem try out mandriva & Redhat H/w compatiblity list and see if your modem is listed.

Then find it out from manufacturer(toshiba), it aint gonna help this way
