Installing Fedora Core 2
 

After burning the Fedora core 2 dvd I tried booting with it and the fedora thing came up. The MD5 on the dvd passed by the way. I pressed enter to start the installation but all it did was display like 3 lines really quick then reboot bringing back the same screen. I tried pressing enter again and got caught in the same loop. Right now I have 2 hard drives, one with windows xp installed on it, and the other being my 2nd hard drive for windows but also having a 7gb ext3 partition on it, which currently has Mandrake 10 which I will remove to install Fedora 2. How can I solve this loop I am getting stuck in? I'd also like to add that I tried starting the setup with CD 1 of the setup which I also verified the MD5 of in Windows and got the same results.

hey, Iam having a similar problem, but in my case , the instalation freeze and I have to force the reboot, after showing like 10 lines, its freeze

anyone know what is going on????

I installed core 1 and suse 9.1 personal and the process went smooth, problem is here with fc2

I think part of my issue with acpi needing to be turned off for me to install naything on this cursed machine and I didn't find that option on FC2 easily.

did you have the same problem?
also what is acpi and how can i turn it off to see if it causes the problem

I'm getting the same problem. I'm trying to install FC2 onto an old comp that has nothing on it. I get 2 lines of something then it jsut reboots and does the same thing.

I haven't used FC2 enough to be sure on this. Some distros have a install option with acpi off, while others will prob require you to load a different kernal thats not default. look at the options and see if you can find one. I didn't look into it too deeply on FC2 as by the time I got to it I was on my 5th or 6th distro that was giving me read issues. (My DVD burner doesnt like reading CDR) SoI opted for Suse that had a easy option on the main screen. But Ill bet theres an option under kernal choices to boot with acpi off. May be worth a try.
