Unhappy installing fedora 6 on extrnal usb drive and dual booting with vista

hi frnds I m new to linux. Earlier i had pc with windows xp and fedor core 4. Now i have bought a hp dv6516 tx laptop with windows vista preinstalled. I have heard that vista has many compatibility issues with linux. I have on e 160 gb external usb hard drive and fedor core6 dvd. Can any one plz tell me how can i install fedora on the external hard drive and boot linux from the hard drive. without touching the internal os.

Is there any option of dual booting on of fedra with vista. i have tried some neo boot loader and other stuffs but it didn't help

Can any one help me out i m starving badly without linux.

You can dual boot vista with fedora on the internal drive if you want, vista is not harder to dual-boot then anyother versions of windows, I belive

Install Fedora on the external, and make sure you install the boot-loader (grub probably) to the root partition - not the MBR.

On Vista, go get EasyBCD (free) and use that to add the Linux install to the boot list. Works fine, and the initial install effectively untouched (can be an issue with work laptops).
