Installing Fedora 10

Hi,

I'm new to Linux and wanna try dual-boot with only 1 hdd. Can someone please teach me how to partition HDD for Fedora installation. Thanks :)

Hi, either you use the partitioner on the Fedora LiveCD, or you free up at least 20 GB of space on your disk, and then let Fedora finish the job by using the free space as it wants. However, I suggest you read through this, specific partitioning instructions are here

Hi,
I've try using that method but the system prompt me that I do not have enough space, but I've already free 70gb of my D: using diskmgmt (Vista).

Better still download the parted magic live cd and do your resizing and partition of the free space.

Make a swap partition of 2 GB size

and two other partitions of size 20 GB (for root partition, use ext3)

and 48 GB (XFS filesystem for /home)

If you are a NEW Linux user i would NOT RECOMMEND installing Fedora as your FIRST linux install.Do to the VERY fast development of fedora it VERY often will require fixing

For your FIRST install of Linux i would install Ubuntu
it is designed to be user friendly to the new person migrating from MS Windows .
