Installing Eternal Lands
 
I know some of you will tell me to "Search the forums." But I've done that. And the usual answer doesn't work for this program.

I'm trying to install Eternal Lands on my Fedora 2 computer. My brother has it on his Windows computer, and I have it on my linux box, but of course the windows version is much easier to install.

I've followed the instructions the best I can on the games web site. ww.eternal-lands.com/page/download.php
But I'm not getting any results.

So far I created a directory "el" and unziped the file into "el"
Now the instructions say to chmod, but I just chown the entire folder.
Now it says to "execute el.x86.linux.bin" I'm not sure what they mean by "execute" I've trie "exec" and that doesn't work. I've also tried "./configure, make, make install" but it doesn't even recognize ./configure

If somebody could please help me through the rest of this process i'd appreciate it.

First of all its best to follow the instructions, chown is diffent from chmod.

Chown just changes the ownership of the file/folder, chmod can set the execuatble flag of a file (which is what you want)

Once you've done that try './el.x86.linux.bin' or is it 'run el.x86.linux.bin' (not sure)

You can then carry on following the rest of the instructions.

I got a little further this time.

Now i do ./el.x86.linux.bin, i get the following messaes

Entity Not Present
 
You say you "unzipped" the file. How? If done without a recursive directive, it may be that only those files from the base directory were unzipped - not all the sub-directories. If that is the case, you will get exactly the error messages you describe.

To unzip I just double clicked on the zip file on the desktop. If i need to do it by command line i will, but what is a recursive directive and how would I use it?
