Installing drivers in Mandrake Linux
Right now I don't have any sound & I know I need to install drivers for it. How do I install drivers in Mandrake Linux? Also, does anyone know of a good DVD player for Mandrake Linux? I have WinDVD that came with my player but I dunno if I can install it...thanks!

use a dvd player called Xine.. its great and it works like winDVD
you have to download either an .rpm or .tar.gz you can just click on the rpm and it will install for the .tar.gz you would do the following: tar zxvf filename.tar.gz cd filename ./configure make su -c 'make install' |
please make sure and read the README file before trying to compile the source if you go that route and running './configure --help' before running './configure' would also be advisable. Also last i check xine's tars came in 2 seperate files xine-lib and xine-ui. To get the source go here
http://xinehq.de/ there are also other players available such as Ogle http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/ MPlayer http://www.MPlayerHQ.hu/homepage/design6/news.html and video lan client http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ all with their varying advantages and disadvantages. |
Your sound problem may not be a driver issue, it may just be turned off. Look here first:
