Installing Development Packages
I've read (perhaps here) that if you don't install the Development Packages during SuSE's intial installation then you might not have some basic stuff like "make", and sure enough when I tried to install a program yesterday I found I didn't have that and some other necessary files.
In YAST there are 4 Development Package sub-groups: Languages, Libraries, Sources, Tools. Do I need to install all of these to get my "basics" so I can install rpms and such? If not all, which ones do I need to install? Thanks, Harold |
You'll need the gcc libs to start.
Once you get the swing of things you can prolly add others on an as needed basis. cheers, alar |
OK thanks alar. I'll install those first.
