Smile Installing Debian on slave drive

I'm looking for reassurance. I'm a first-time linux installer (though I've used knoppix), and I'm planning on installing Debian onto my primary slave, leaving WinXP on my master. I've read that this is the best way of preserving WinXP on a dual boot system, but also that there are sometimes problems with booting an OS on the slave drive.

Is this something I should be worrying about? And how can problems be avoided?

Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome to LQ!

there should be no problem- I've done it before. Just remember to create a bootdisk, because you might have problems getting into debian after. Once you have it installed, you can work on a more "elegant" way of dual booting.

i have the exact arrangement like you planned to. No problem whatsoever with Debian or XP. Go ahead, install Debian Sarge.

awesome, thanks for the help. Made my day! I will definitely create a boot disk - years of working with (er.. fighting with) Windows has taught me that much.. hehe
