Installing Debian and Red Hat together (Grub question)
 

I have RH 8 installed on my old PC on /dev/hda. I have another drive on /dev/hdd that I would like to install Debian 3.0 on. I am using GRUB currently which is installed on the MBR of /dev/hda.

My question is, should I bother even using LILO on the Debian root partition's first sector (so I can use the chainloader option of GRUB to boot Debian up), so it is more advisable to just move the Debian kernel in the /boot directory (for Red Hat) and just boot it from there? The other option I guess is to just point the grub.conf to where the Debian kernel is located in its own partition (on hdd), right?

Or is there a better way?

i would personally just put the debian kernel on your rh partition unless your going to be doing a lot of work with changing kernels in which it can get to be a pain

I went for the latter option with the only difference that i didn't put the debian kernel itself in the redhat /boot partition but that I put a symlink to it there,

Thanks for the tips. What I did, was I installed Debian and copied over the kernel into RH's /boot directory initially, and then I was able to point GRUB to the drive that Debian is on.

Dag, the Debian install asked so many questions!!!

Those questions were kind of overwhelming right?
I just leaves you with the hope that you didn't really mess it up and that you won't have to reinstall b/c you got one out of 100 wrong!
