installing chkconfig slackware 8.1
I'm not sure if chkconfig normally comes with slackware or not, but I'm having one hell of a time installing it. I don't know if its giving any errors or not but after installing when i try to run 'chkconfig --list' i get 'failed to open /etc/rc.d/init.d: no such file or directory'
any suggestions, should i just reinstall slackware and see if i missed the option to install chkconfig with it? is chkconfig already installed and I'm missing something? in order to install it, i download the tar.gz, uncompressed it went to its dir and just did ./configure, make, make install bc thats what the website i downloaded it from said to do. im completely new to linux and i haven't installing anything on my system yet so I'm sure if I'm doing something wrong, any help is greatly appreciated. |
