installing bridge-utils-1.0.4

hi i just dl/ed the bridge utility off bridge.sourceforge.net. i've checked their faq and howto it's all about how to use the software but nothing about how to install it. i'm wondering if someone could give me some pointers. i did a tar xzvf bridge-utils-*.tar.gz to extract the files. i read from an old guild saying i should just cd bridge* then make. but i get this error msg: "make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop." thx in advance
