Installing .bin file: Permission Denied

I am trying to install Tracks via a Bitnami installer.
Granted, I'm VERY new to Linux, but it seemed like a simple process and I thought I was on the right track
I did already change the ownership and group of the file to my user.

(NOTE: I renamed the file (via the GUI) to save myself some typing in terminal)
Using terminal, I first verified that it is executable:
Code:
file /home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin
Then, I tried to run the .bin installer:
Code:
/home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin
I get a Permission Denied error
(I tried all this as sudo, too.)

What am I missing ???
~ Mo

Try this:

sh /home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin

or chmod the file to include execute permission.

Did you make the file executable?
Code:
chmod +x /home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin
Kind regards

When I tried
Code:
file /home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin
it did say it was executable, but I'll give those suggestions a try and post back.
Thanks.

It says it's an executable file, not that is executable.

Kind regards

After 'sh /home/user/downloads/tracksinstaller.bin' said it could not run, I did the chmod exactly as provided, and ... SUCCESS!!

Thanks-a-bunch.
