installing ATI radeon drivers
I just switched back to linux (mandrake 10.1) and I need to install my ATI drivers. I went on the ATI website in the linux drivers section, but either of the drivers will work. I type "sh ./blabladrivername.run
and it says : Detected configuration: Architecture: i686 (32-bit) X Server: unable to detect Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install What do I have to do? I'm a bit rusty with linux commands and xorg.conf and stuff. Oh my video card is a Radeon X850 XT Thanks :) |
unable to detect? why? I have Xorg 6.7 I believe.

People who get those vendor supplied drivers to work seem to be a minority. Google for .rpm packages made for your OS. I've had the best luck with getting already compiled modules from the same sites.
Install the driver and the module then use fglrxconfig, or aticonfig or whatever they're using these days. |
ati
as far as I know you need xorg68 and higher
