Installing an application for all users

Hey everybody!

Where do I have to install applications that I want to be available to all users? The /opt directory is the right place?

Tks for your help!

/usr or /usr/local . If you install in /opt, make sure that its in your path.

Tks, reddazz! But if I install it in /opt, why must it be in the path? What happens if it's not?

Tks again!

When you ask bash to run a program, it looks in your $PATH variable to find it. ....
