Installing
I am complety new to Linux and have a few questions concering the loading from an umbunto 10.04 iso file burned to cd.
1. The installer says "no network interface detected" The network interface is on the motherboad. Why will it not detect it? 2. Do I have to go get a wirelesss card or can i use the one one the motherboard? 3.Will it have a driver on the disc? |
3. you need to tell us at least the type of the motherboard if you really want to get an answer
2. depends on 3., but probably you do not need a wireless card. 1. depends on 3. __________________________________ Happy with solution ... mark as SOLVED If someone helps you, or you approve of what's posted, click the "Add to Reputation" button, on the left of the post. |

Ubuntu 10.04 uses a 2.6.32 kernel. The driver for your network card (Atheros AR8152) is included in later kernels (since February 2010), so if you install 12.04 instead of 10.04 you will be able to use the network card.
