Everybody that can be of some help, it would be appreciated.
I am running a 64 bits version of linux now without any problem on a turion x2 laptop.
But now comes the problem.
I have to run some programs that are not supported under 64 bits. ( Home made programs).
I tried to install a 32 bits version on this laptop, but always get the message that i should try a x86_64 installation on my computer.
I have to run the 32 bits programs on that machine,
What can I do?
And why is every 32 bits distro I tried complaining about that.

Which 32-bit distros have you tried? I am certain that they don't all ask you about it. For instance, Gentoo doesn't care what you have, it assumes you know what you are doing. If you do a gui install, some distros may try to fix what could be in error, ie. selecting a 32bit distro for a 64bit machine. But it seems there ought to be an override of some sort.

What distribution would you like to run, and maybe people can give you input on how to over-ride that warning message.

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop on my wife's laptop (Acer Aspire 5000 with Turion 64-bit cpu) without any problems. Didn't get any error and ran a clean install.

Which distro have you tied? If your x86_64 is working for you now then why don't you try a 'VM' to use. That way you can use a x86_32 distro as a client on the x86_64 host.

'VirtualBox', 'VMware' and 'QEMU' are a few good virtual machine software that you can use.

Normally I wouldnt even have thought about changing, but it's urgent that progs are running in some way.
The progs I need to run are home made by some people.
And I need to run them.
