Installed OpenSuse 10.3 but Old Version of Mandrake Keeps Trying to Start
I just tried to install opensuse 10.3 three times but everytime I restart, an old version of Mandrake Linux tries to start instead and then hangs. I had OpenSuse delete the old partitions but, something is being left from Mandrake. Any Ideas?

Something went wrong with installing grub. Perhaps an old drive is being mapped as (hd0,0) instead of (hd1,0) for example.
For this problem, editing /boot/grub/devices.map may fix things. In any event, you need to rerun grub-install. |
boot a livecd and as root run fdisk -l and post the results and post /boot/grub/menu.lst

It was really quite easy. I ran fdisk /mbr and that fixed it. It now boots to OpenSuse10.3. Apparently Mandriva uses LILO and it writes information the the Master Book Record fdisk /mbr deletes it.
