installed mandrake 9.1, now added hardware...

I sucessfully installed mandrake 9.1 onto my freebie dual pentium pro 200mhz machine with only a 4 gig drive and 392 megs of ram.

when i installed it, i didn't have the sound card in the machine.

i now put the sound card in, but when i goto the mandrake control center in kde, the sound card is still not being detected.

how do i force mandrake to detect the presence of the new sound card (old creative labs sound card btw, isa)

also it says that it detects the 2nd processor, but how do i know when the 2nd processer is being used?

and is there a gui tool that will show like a cpu monitor like there is in OS X for mac, like show how much cpu utilization is being used for each cpu?

This is all new to me..

K-Menu (in KDE) --> Applications --> Monitoring --> KDE System Guard --- this will showsome utilization graphs.. You'll just need to add the second processor to a chart so you can see its usage.

Also, in monitoring is "KCPU load" -- that creates a small graph down in your taskbar next to the clock. Right click on it and select "SMP" to get readings of both CPU0 and CPU1 to be displayed.
