Question Installed Debian but i have no sound. How do i fix it?


Hello everybody , i have just installed Debian from DVD. I wasnt asked to configure or install any modules so everything was installed automatically.

Ive installed it at a Sony Vaio laptop. The sound card is Intel 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW(ICH6) High Definition Audio controller.

Iam totally new so please guide me through the installation/configuration process.

What the heck is all the repetition about. Your problem is incredibly easy to solve, and I'm sure googling "sound Debian" would have returned tens of thousands of correct solutions. Be advised that Debian users expect you to solve the easy stuff by yourself. This ain't Ubuntu.

# aptitude alsa-base alsa-utils
# alsaconf

probably just need to run alsamixer and turn off the mute on the main sound . I had to do that for most debian installs.
