Installed Catalyst 13.2 Beta, xorg failed to start, "Invalid ATI BIOS" in log
 

Alright, so it's been a long time since I've even touched Linux (besides for Android, if you want to count that), and although I've always been interested in it, I was never too good at it and always had to ask for help... but I guess that's the best thing about the Linux community is that you guys are always willing.

Anyway, today I installed Kubuntu 12.10 via Wubi installer, and it went okay at first, everything started going well, and even installed the proprietary drivers in the 'additional drivers' section, but I remembered seeing that the newest beta drivers are available for Linux on ATI's official website, so I installed it with the help of thisand after finishing, I rebooted my computer, but when I started it back up, it failed to start and went straight to the command line's login. After trying to find out what's wrong, I looked around after seeing that fglrxinfo returns a null value, I googled it, and got this. I followed the instructions, and I got a completely blue screen after running the amd*.run script, tried to install it, and it said there were still traces of fglrx in the system, googled how to remove that, found this. Followed this, and even though it successfully ran and installed the amd*run script, I ran sudo aticonfig --initial again, it said it worked, I rebooted, same old problem.

Decided to read the error log this time, and I found something similar to this: I say SIMILAR because I can't find it in my xorg log anymore, but others have had similar problems as I did, so I copied and pasted what (at least to what I recall) showed up at the end of the log. It may not be 100% accurate, and if need be, I'll try to replicate what I did before to reproduce the error for accuracy's sake.

Finally, I found that (through someone else) that deleting xorg.conf allows me to get back into the x-server, but it's not a permanent fix to my problem.

(I guess now is a good a time as any to announce that I have a hybrid/dual-GPU laptop, HP DV6tqe, an Intel HD and HD 6770m as listed below. I don't know if this will mess anything up or not. I also have BIOS to only use one graphics card at a time instead of using both/switching between the two.)

The Beta driver is exactly what it says, Beta quality software. If you do not want to act as software tester and report the bugs you find, but just work with the system I would recommend to stick with the official drivers from your dsitribution.
The problem here is that you have used the installer script, which circumvents the package manager.
I would recommend to make a clean install of the OS and stick with tested software.
