installboot


is there a linux equivalent "installboot" command? thank you.

Installboot as in the Solaris command that would install the solaris bootsectors? Yes, there are a number of options it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. GRUB is the most common linux boot loader if you're trying to repair a linux box that won't boot. Can you be more specific about the issue you're having or task you're trying to accomplish?

trying to clone linux based drive that is place in a mem card in a SunOS system. actually it clones but when i place the copy/mirrow image i receive the magic number error. however the gold copy i am cloning from works fine. i've cloned from the logicube sas and knoppix 6.7 with the same results.thank you again.

yes > dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/sdc bs=1024
with sdb & sdc being the origin and destination drives, respectfully. thank you

yes, i'm cloning from an hitachi 20Gb (4200 RPM) to an hitachi 30Gb (4200 RPM).
