You see you are trying toi nsatll from a source file, which is nothing but the code ofthe program. To make the code isntall, yo need to run it through a compiler. That's what gcc is, a compiler.

Follow the advice by nuka_t, and you should be all set. If you need some more guidance, you can always ask.
