installation USB stick not recognized after install
 

I installed Debian Wheezy from a USB stick successfully, but after the installation I tried apt-get for kde-standard, and I got error saying I have to insert the installation CD. My USB stick was inserted however but was not recognized. I managed to get kde from the internet by disabling the CD line in the sources.list, but I would like to be able to use my stick instead of internet in the future. What should I do?

You need to add a line to your sources.list which points to the usb stick.

Did you install Debian after booting from this installation image? The Debian image for USB sticks doesn't include much software and is intended for booting the installer, while downloading the rest of the system from an Internet mirror. What you should do, if you want to be able to install Debian software without connecting to the Internet, is to burn (or buy) a set of CDs or DVDs and run "apt-cdrom add" for each one of them, removing (or commenting out) other entries from your sources.list file.
