installation question

If I am installing linux(whitebox) on my laptop with a C drive.. its using automatic partitioning... will it delete my current data?

Also in grub it says it will allow Dos or Linux to boot what about the existing NT ?

Yes it will.
It will not if you create a new partition on your c drive under windows first where you install your linux.

And yes, the exitsting nt will be bootable through grub if you don't mess up.

And no, you are not the first who posted such a question on the forum...

Thank you...

If I already have C drive then how can I partition it without formatting it ?

I know only how to format the whole drive and partition... I am not sure how to partition with data on it..

any ideas?

I hope you are trying to install Linux on a laptop where there is no room for new partition (all existing ones are used by Windows). There are two options.

1. If you have multiple drives, backup all the contents of any one of the drive and use that drive to install Linux.
2. If you have only one drive, then use Partition Magic to resize the C: and create a new partition for Linux.
