Question Installation problem "Bad Interpreter"

I have a dual-boot system for Red Hat Linux 8.0. I downloaded Tcl/Tk (Tcl 8.4.1 and Tk 8.4.1) from Windows onto a drive which is accessible by both Windows and Linux, and unzipped using Winzip. There's a Unix subdirectory whose readme says it configures ok for PC's using Linux.

In Linux, in the Unix subdirectory, I typed ./configure. The the readme in the Unix subdirectory said this "should run a configuration script created by GNU autoconf". I got a message "bad interpreter: permission denied". What do I do?

Check with "mount" if you've got execute permissions on that partition. If mount options show "noexec" mount the partition with "-o remount, exec". If it isn't that, check the "bang" line "#!/path/to/interpreter".
Btw, I can't remember I needed Linux to have Tk/Tcl for w32 running, it comes packaged with an installer AFAIK.
