Installation of RHEL 6 on Windows 8 machine having UEFI BIOS
Hi Guys,
I recently bought a new laptop with UEFI BIOS and windows 8.1 pre-installed. I wish to install RHEL 6 by manually defining the partitions and making it dual-boot. I tried installing RHEL 6 from a bootable DVD which I had used for my old laptop earlier. Installation was successfully completed, however, RHEL 6 is not getting detected on startup. Can anyone please let me know the steps to install the same? Regards, Neeraj |
Hi,
New PCs are locked down by the manufacturer to only accept "signed" software to boot from. Try to disable the "Secure Boot" from the BIOS setup and give it a try again. |
If windows 8.1 is installed using UEFI, then you must install other systems in UEFI. If you don't, well you've seen the result which is expected. You might try reading the Red Hat documentation or calling Red Hat support.

I tried doing it however installing linux in UEFI mode is not allowing me to create manual partitions for linux. I will check this link. Thanks for the help. |
