Installation of OpenOffice 2.3.0 on CentOS.

Hi Friends,

I am using CentOS 5.0,

I have downloaded the file

OOo_2.3.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz

(openoffice 2.3.0 for Linux) from the OpenOffice website.

Now i want to upgrade from OpenOffice 2.0 (which comes by the OS) to OpenOffice 2.3.0.

So Please Help me to do this..

Also i would like to upgrade Mozilla Firefox to its latest version.

Please Help me do that.

Thanks in advance.....

PS: Kindly give me correct procedure to install these softwares, because last time, some wrong information was given to me in another forum, so i ended up deleting both and since i didn't no how to proceed, i installed new OS..

OOo upgrade/installation would be easier if you downloaded the .rpm version: http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.0...focus=download. Then start a console session, switch to root mode and type: rpm -Uvh <name of package here>.rpm. Double clicking the .rpm may also launch your package manager, you could do the upgrade/install that way also.

As for doing Firefox, I would wait until it is available as a .rpm for CentOS 5 to avoid any nasty surprises.
