Installation of MANDRIVA LINUX ONE 2009
Hi everybody
I have recently downloaded a free version of Mandriva Linux One 2009 to install on an HP Proliant. The name of the downloaded file is " mandriva-linux-one-2009-beta-KDE4-int-cdrom-i586" and its type is ISO. I have never dealt with this sort of files and do not know how to proceed with the installation. To install linux I have always used a set of CD's. Could anyone let me know how to install this software? To save you time, let me just add that I tried two options both of which failed. 1- I just inserted a cd with the above file on it as is and let the system boot from it but nothing happened, the system did not recognize it . 2- I uncompressed the file using WINRAR (a windows application) and got a set of files and directories such as " boot" and so on. I copied everything on a cd and inserted it and let the system boot but again nothing, absolutely nothing happened! I will be very thankful to anyone who could let me know how to proceed. With best regards, Saadi |
Here is the link to Mandriva download page, at the bottom left of the page under "Download" is a link called "Writing an ISO image". If you need help to read what comes up when you click on it, give us a shout.
