Question installation of mandrake 10.1 linux version


hi,
i am sathish. i am new to linux. i want to install mandrake 10.1 linux OS on my laptop(dell inspiron8600). I want to start from the scratch. (i.e. i will repartition my harddisk and start installing.
I want to have both Win XP aswellas linux on my system. can anyone suggest me how to install this linux after the installation of Win XP(I first want to install Win XP and then linux).
and one more doubt : can i install linux on NTFS partition? if not what can i do to install.
please reply me. thanking you in advance.

If you do a search for "dual boot" you will see a number of entries for this. Basically, you will need to repartition your hard drive - make XP's partition smaller and leave the rest as unformatted empty space. Then install Linux to that space.
