Welcome ro LQ

I would suggest to start with vmware.
Find out if you like it, then learn to work with it.
Later you can go to dual boot.

Good luck

You better don't use this kind of sentences.

so i have to create a new partition for vm ware and how much space it requires to install vm ware.

There's nothing like the real hardware experience. So I always suggest dual-boot. It's easy these days, the installer for most distros will handhold you through the process of resizing your partition and making room for Linux. About 10GB should be enough for a start.

If you're going to commit a partition to VMWare, you might as well install Linux on the partition and skip the virtual machine. That would be way faster and better overall.

Maybe.
I need to run 'doze on occasions, and I like to have Linux and OpenSolaris available at the same time. Personally I use VirtualBox on Vista, and have a separate partition for the guest image files.
Lots of ways to achieve the goal.
