Installation Koffice 1.6.0 does noet work on SUSE 10.1

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Linux, i want to install Koffice 1.6.0 because of the good picture editing software KRITA.
I downloaded the package and extracted it but con not get it installed with the commands from the Koffice website.

Can anyone guide me through this???

Thanx a lot,
Dave

You may be doing yourself a disservice by upgrading an application on SuSE. The SuSE distribution developers do a good job of making patches available for the software that shipped on a particular SuSE distribution. If you remove a given version of an application that came with your SuSE distribution and then install a different version of the same application I am not sure that the YaST Online Update software will find the correct patches for that application.

But if you still want to go ahead then I can't imagine what instructions you were following. I just read the KDE KOffice installation instructions for SuSE. There is no instruction to download the rpm archive file. All four methods discussed involve having the software downloaded over the network when you run the installation software.

Here is the KDE page.

Here is the page that it points to for instructions.

If you still want to upgrade the KOffice software and if you still need help then please include what you have already done and what errors you received. Details are important to diagnosing a problem.

Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing and if it works. :)
