Installation Error - Kernel was unable to...
I am trying to install red Hat 7.3 on a server which crashed. Its also runnig a disk stripe. As i start the install to partition it says the kernel cannot re -read the /tmp/hda. I click ignore a few times then proceed on but then it comes to formatting it kicks me out and says the cannot read /tmp/hda and then hde6? this then says linux cannot install please reboot - so i rebooted and it gives me the same problem??

I've found in the past that when I have problems with installation of linux, the error is usually associated with either faulty installation media or hard drive.
/tmp/hda sounds like a temporary file on your hard drive that might be corrupt in some way. I would: 1. Try unplugging your existing hard drive & get another, and / or 2. Give the CD's a rinse in WARM soapy - washing up liquid soap (nb not hot) water & dry off softly with a clean cloth. - this trick has worked well for me on many occassions when i've had problems installing. - a greasy thumb print could be the cause!! I hope this helps |
Thanks! The Cd might of been the problem.
