installation debian on thinkpad x61

i tried to install debian many times but always failed. thikpad x61 has no cdrom, so i

use 8gb sandisk usb. i have burned the netinst or hd-media image and boot from it, then boot error.

i burned also debian cdrom image on it, then it boots fine but it said it cant detect cdrom

media and stops installing. how can i solve this problem.

or can i install manually using knoppix or something?(if then, where could i find how-to)

Go to this web site.

http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

At step 2 there are instructions for putting a bootable iso image onto a usb stick including utility to write the image.

Or you could buy a USB attached CD/DVD and configure the Thinkpad BIOS to boot from USB before the internal disk drive.
