Installation CD's

Hello,

I just installed 2 out of the 5 cd's that came with my SUSE 9.1 personal package and my laptop runs well. Since I have a very small HD (2.2GB) I'm considering not installing the remaining 3 cds. WIll I miss out on any essential applications? I only use my laptop for web surfing and some word processing. Please advise.

Thanks,
Ed

You don't even need to install everything on cd1&2. Just make sure you have the browser of your choice and an office programme (like koffice or openoffice) I've got all of that with SuSE 9.0 cd1 allone!

Thanks for the input. Will only installing the browser, openoffice, and a few other applications help improve performance? Right now every application takes a long time to open, especially openoffice. Thanks again.

Open office is known to be slow. There are a few tricks to make it faster which you should be able to find at the 'open office online forum (www.ooof. ?)
Speed will also depend on the size of the swap file, your ram, your cpu, the number of processes you're running, your kernel compilation etc, etc, etc.
