Installation and Login Problem with Simply Mepis 6.0. Help Please!

Hello, im trying Linux for the first time so i am very unsure about what im doing, so i'm not sure if this is a simple problem or not. I've booted up and installed Simply Mepis 6.0-beta4 and it all seemed to go pretty smoothly but now after rebooting and trying to login for the first time i've hit a problem, an error comes up after i try to login saying;

"There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:
Could not read network connection list.
/home/Michael/.DCOPserver_Mikey P4 Linux__0
Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!"

Then it returns me to the login window, ive tryed everthing to get around this but nothing seems to work. Ive been told it might just be best to wipe the harddrive and instal linux again, is this the answer? or is there actually a solution to this problem?

thank you for any help

Mepis v.6 has been out since August (no beta). I would simply get the released version rather than embarking on a witch hunt.

Mepis is my current default and has been bulletproof. Thus, there is hope.....
