Installation
I downloaded the iso images for RedHat 9 and burned them using Windows. My computer won't boot to the first CD. Also, I can't access the rawrite utility from a dos prompt. Lastly, I tried downloading "bootdisk.img" and my computer keeps telling me the file is too big to copy to a floppy even though it's 1.38 MB.
Any suggestions? |
i ran into the same problem, you have to burn the ISO not just copy it, i used Nero worked great.. hope this helps...

I took your advice and tried burning the ISO using Nero and my computer still won't boot to the CD.

go to linuxiso.org
On the left hand side, they have a link for "How to burn ISOs". It has directions for all the popular programs. Follow that. |
ok, first make sure your cd images aren't corrupt, run an fsum utility (u can get one at downloads.com) check the md5sum and verify them with the one's at redhat's site
then, burn them with nero using the create cd from image file then make sure your bios is set to boot from cd |
about my problem, i went to the libary and got the RedHat Linux 8 Bible... its most the stuff i read going to carry over to 9?
Well it helped me to install the package so know what do i do, how do i run the package? anyhelp? |
Thanks everyone, I finally got it to work with Nero. Now I can see all the files. I had to burn it correctly "Burn Image" - not "Write CD" - I'm all good now!
