Install / uninstalls

I just switched to Linux (red hat) 9 from win&^@$ and found that I dig it.
The hurdal I must jump at this point is the install, reinstall and uninstalls. one is ymessenger-0.99.19-1.i386.rpm it is runing correct, I see no text but my wife does? so I want it gone. the other is realplyer its installed and have no clue of how to uninstall it. the reason for the uninstall is I installed a few plugins like plugger v4 then web sites that had realplayer files would no longer play. so I found the file that shows where all the files when't and deleted them all, or atleast I hope . now I am trying to reinstall real player and it will not let me due to it being installed already. How do I get around this?
Thanks in advance ya all.
