Please do not jump in the middle of unrelated threads to post a question. I have moved this to its own thread.
You need to tell us what distro (version) of Linux you are using. Also, have you looked in the package manager for svn? My system offers a variety of choices.
Is svn a client--server setup? i.e. do you need SW at both ends?
